Marketing and non-profit enthusiast Rachel Friedmann has more than ten years experience in both. Her father has long joked that she was born with “will work for non-profits” written on her forehead, so McKinley’s association clientele is a perfect fit. Rachel oversees marketing and communications efforts for McKinley, and supports business development activities by crafting proposals, building relationships and developing our online presence. Her background and expertise also make her a valuable asset for consulting on the marketing, online marketing and design elements of our clients’ projects.

Rachel joined the McKinley team in 2010, after completing her MS in Marketing from Johns Hopkins University. Rachel’s academic focus was on the creative and strategic elements of marketing, which she leveraged while working towards her MSM as a client strategy consultant for a local marketing and design firm. Her previous positions had her developing and implementing marketing, design, web and media relations efforts for non-profit organizations. In a previous position as the Assistant Director of the American University Museum, Rachel developed and implemented the new museum’s brand, social media, marketing, and media relations strategies while managing the museum and its exhibitions. Rachel is a member of ASAE’s Marketing Section Council and has also been involved in the DC Chapter of the American Marketing Association. When she is not working or attending a networking event, Rachel can be found doing Pilates or relaxing with friends and a glass of wine.

An avid collector of degrees, she also holds a BA in sociology and art history and a MA in non-profit management from Tulane University, an advanced graphic design Certificate from the Corcoran College of Art + Design. Rachel has lived in Washington, DC for over eight years, but loves to visit her family and friends in New Orleans as often as she can.
