As an associate research manager, Shelby Young supports quantitative research design, administration and reporting. She works collaboratively with teams to provide data-based insights to association clients.
Prior to joining McKinley Advisors, Shelby was the Membership Specialist for the National Rural Water Association, where she was responsible for growing membership and increasing retention and engagement. She also interned with the House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture, where she learned the power of associations and how their memberships help shape U.S. policy.
Shelby earned her bachelor’s of science degree in Plant and Soil Science with minors in Political Science and Chemistry from Texas Tech University. She also received a Master of Agribusiness and a Master of Science in Plant & Soil Science – Plant Pathology from her alma mater. She is a Fulbright Research Awardee to Australia and focused her research on the fungal disease, Verticillium wilt of cotton. Shelby served on the New South Wales Department of Primary Industry’s Climate Change Risk Assessment Committee for Verticillium.
Outside of work, Shelby enjoys live music, golfs and loves a good vintage furniture find! She also enjoys reading business and economics books, traveling, and listening to podcasts.
